August Newsletter

Parents,
Welcome back to school! It is super exciting to see the learning that is already going on in our classrooms! This is going to be a wonderful year! This year, a monthly newsletter will be emailed to parents with important information about upcoming events, PTO information, important dates, etc. Make sure to be looking for the email
around the first of each month!

White House Rotary – Our amazing White House Rotary delivered a brand new dictionary to every 3rd grade student on Wednesday, August 15th! The kids really enjoyed the visit and the wonderful gift!

Kroger Community Rewards – This is one of the easiest ways to help support our school!! Please take a minute and link your Kroger Rewards Card to our school. This has to be completed each year! Simply go online to Kroger.com/communityrewards
Our school number is 69721 or search for White House Heritage Elementary School. This is all you have to do…then just shop at Kroger! Please let us know if you have any questions!

Facebook and Twitter – If you haven’t already, please make sure to like us on Facebook! We try to keep it updated with additional information that is important at school!
Also, our Twitter page is running! We will be tweeting throughout the school day with pictures and important information, so if you are not following us on Twitter, please do so!

Car Rider Information – In the afternoons, please make sure to have your car rider tag visible and attached to the passenger side visor. After your student enters the vehicle, please flip the visor up, so we know that your student is safe and you are ready to go! Also, remember for safety reasons, do not move your vehicle until instructed by an adult to do so…safety is our #1 priority!

Morning Car Riders…please remember to pull all the way forward before dropping off your student! Also, please do not pull around cars after your student gets out of the car. Some children exit the car on the left side, and we just want to make sure everyone stays safe!

Safety Drill Information – This week we will begin our first of many very important safety drills for the school year. Please take the opportunity to discuss with your student the importance of taking these drills seriously and following all directions during these drills! We have already had our
first fire drill of the year, and will continue with one each month. We will also be having tornado drills and lockdown drills. When we have a lockdown drill, you will be contacted via SchoolMessenger so you can talk with your student regarding the drill.

School Attendance – You will soon be receiving information regarding the importance of daily attendance. We will be striving for every student to miss less than 5 days of school for the entire year! If a student accomplishes this, their name will be placed into a drawing for a special prize at the
end of the school year…last year it was a brand new iPad!

Birthday Book Club – At various times during the year we will receive shipments of new books in the library. As those books arrive we will offer families the opportunity to dedicate a book in honor of a child’s birthday, a teacher, or other special person for a $10 donation. If you choose to
participate, your child will be the first student to check out the new book from the library. If you are interested, please use the link below to get more information and a form to fill out and return to the library. https://tinyurl.com/HESBirthdayBookClub

Class Dojo – If you have not already received information regarding Class Dojo from your child’s teacher, please contact the school! If you have not ever had experience with this program, get ready because it is an awesome way to stay connected with what is going on in your child’s
classroom…from behavior to class newsletters to pictures from class activities! Make sure to download the easy to use App and stay connected throughout the school day!

Patriot Pantry – We are currently in the process of re-stocking our Patriot Pantry! Many, many students and families have been helped with items over the last year and a half! If you don’t know what our Patriot Pantry is, it is a discrete location that is overseen by our Guidance Counselor. It contains all types of items that students and parents might need to help them through a tough
time…clothes, blankets, non-perishable food items, toiletries, school supplies, backpacks, cleaning supplies, etc. Currently, we could really use more non-perishable food items (preferably ones that students can open and consume without direct adult supervision). At the end of last
school year, we made sure to send our students home with extra food items to help out through the summer, so our supply is very limited right now. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the school!
