3rd Grade S.T.E.M. with Lelan Statom
Posted on 01/25/2017
This
semester HES third grade students have learned about weather,
atmospheric conditions, weather tools, and cloud types. In this unit of
study, students completed a STEM project which allowed them to design
and
construct weather tools using the Engineering Design Process. This unit
was concluded with a special guest speaker, Mr. Lelan Statom, chief meteorologist from Nashville's News Channel 5. Mr. Statom spent an hour
with our students sharing about Tennessee's
weather conditions, severe weather preparedness, the water cycle, and
answering questions. Students had a fantastic time of fun and learning,
and were especially excited to host Mr. Statom.
